Based on a recently published Sony patent, it seems the gaming giant is actively working to bring PS5 games to its PS Now selection.

Slowly but surely, Elex 2 is coming together. There are still a lot of unknowns, but the general plot and idea have been revealed through gameplay, interviews, and the like. Elex 2 will see Jax return from an exile, having at some point fathered a son, and bring together the factions of Magalan once more to do battle against the invading “aliens.”

As with any game though, simply getting a variety of factions to come together and defeat this new threat won’t be so simple. Elex 2’s factions will likely deal with the fallout of Jax’s choices in the first game, as well as operate under new leadership. Elex 2 has confirmed some familiar faces will return, especially as Jax deals with the Berserkers, Clerics, Outlaws, and potentially even the Albs (?). Yet, in his exile, new factions have formed, setting the stage for the new conflict.

Elex 2 New Factions and Major Conflict

At the end of Elex, The Hybrid explains a bigger threat coming to Magalan, that being a very Sci-Fi fantasy twist on "aliens," and one that has impacted the past, present, and future of the planet's conflicts at the time. Essentially, the game subtly hints at extraterrestrial influences and ends on a confirmation of their existence and threat. This set up for a bigger conflict, one that could impact all life on Magalan. Bigger stakes than in the first game require a story that meets those challenges.

Nowhere is this more apparent than the two trailers released so far. The first shows Jax leading a massive army into battle, set appropriately to powerful heavy metal background score. The second Elex 2 trailer though shows Jax struggling to convince existing factions, like the Berserkers, to aid him. His relationship with the original factions will clearly be important, and these factions will have their own desires and goals before, going into, and after this conflict. Yet, fans can probably venture a close guess for these based on these factions’ already established motifs.

Thankfully, introducing new factions will ensure Elex 2 doesn’t tread the same ground as the original game. Piranha Bytes has yet to establish what they are, but they could range from anything to worshippers of this alien collective to those utilizing Elex in a new way. The possibilities are endless, and that in turn means the conflict is larger than life. Take that conflict, toss in new and old factions and alliances, and it seems Elex 2’s story will truly be out of this world.

Elex 2 is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
