New World is an MMO and comes with several of the genre's trappings. The game also features an expansive map to explore, full of quests to complete and gear to collect. And like most MMO's, it has something of a slow start, with its tutorial moving players through systems one by one.
This problem tends to be bigger in MMOs, a genre space where dedicated players frequently re-roll new characters. Thankfully, New World's design is a bit more forgiving here. Unlike most MMO's, New World doesn't have character classes or races, instead focusing more on different equipment and skill builds to differentiate players. This will limit the need to restart with a new character to experience different abilities and roles.

That being said, if a player does want to start again, whether it's due to losing their account or a desire to re-experience lower level content, or if they just want to speed up their first playthrough, New World has them covered. The game allows players to skip the tutorial, and learn via trial by fire.
New World Tutorial Skip
The player gets the option to skip the tutorial during the prologue, shortly after the opening cutscene and character creation when the player's ship crashes ashore. This area teaches basic combat and controls, giving players a simple combat gauntlet and boss fight against the corrupted Captain Thorpe.
To skip ahead, the player just needs to open the pause menu. Once there, head to the "Game Menu" tab on the top right. Right below "Unstuck" and "Respawn" is an option labeled "Skip to New World." This will skip the player forward past the prologue.
Now, this isn't a complete tutorial skip. The unskippable early story quests will still teach the player some more nitty-gritty mechanics, such as New World's mining system, but these later tutorials don't last as long, and players will have plenty of time to practice these skills in regular play.
New World is currently having a very successful launch when it comes to player count, with over a million active users on day one. If a player has trouble with some mechanic, whether it's because they skipped a tutorial or are simply rusty, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone else who can explain it. MMO's are already at their best when playing in a guild or as part of a faction, so players should find others to play with as fast as possible.
New World is available now for PC.
