As players make their way through New World’s main story, they will obtain a quest called Stories Among Ships from Charity Douglas. At several points during this quest, fans will be instructed to search shipwrecks for records and remnants, and the way that this is done may not be immediately obvious. Fortunately, it is quite easy to search shipwrecks for records and remnants in New World, and this guide has details on exactly how players should proceed.
New World: Search Shipwrecks for Records and Remnants
The first time that a player is instructed to search shipwrecks during the Stories Among Ships quest, they should head approximately 250m northwest of Charity Douglas. As fans arrive at the landmass in this position, the quest objective should update, and they must now interact with three books that are in the area. While the positions of these books should be marked directly on the map in New World, the video that is below will help players that are having some trouble tracking them down.

After interacting with these books, fans will once again be told to search shipwrecks for records and remnants, and they should travel south-southwest from their current position. Moving in this direction will lead New World players to yet another island, and Stories Among Ships should update upon approach. This time around fans will be searching for a locker, which takes the form of a chest that is sitting on the wrecked ship’s deck.
At this point, players will be sent to search shipwrecks for records and remnants yet again, and indeed this is the last time. To complete this step, MMORPG fans should simply run south-southeast until they are below the “J” in “Jawbone Cove” on the map and then collect the two flags from the Bounty of Boehm. When that is done, players will be ready to return to Charity Douglas in order to complete Stories Among Ships and collect their rewards.
With respect to the specifics of those rewards, fans that tackle this task will earn a Treated Wood Bow, 330 XP, and 59 Coins. These players will also be able to continue their journeys on New World’s Aeternum Island, either by taking on another main story quest or pursuing a side quest or optional activity. Regardless of exactly what type of content a player decides to engage with next, they can use their new bow, which favors Dexterity for damage, if they wish to.
New World is available now on PC.
