It’s difficult to understate just how incredible the last few years have been for PlayStation. The PS5 has been one of the most in-demand consoles ever released, and PlayStation’s list of blockbuster exclusives is an obvious reason why. Of course, with that success comes a wave of fans asking where PlayStation – and gaming as a whole – is headed to next. Luckily, PlayStation’s Jim Ryan will soon be answering some of those questions, as well as talking about gaming’s past.

Ryan is scheduled to headline GamesIndustry’s GI Live event in London next month. On October 7, the PlayStation executive will be hosting a fireside chat, where he’ll be discussing the future of video games, as well as his history with PlayStation and views on the brand. The fireside chat is pre-recorded, so fans shouldn’t expect any bombshell slip-ups, though there will likely still be some interesting kernels of information thrown around.

Ryan isn’t the only notable attendee for the event either, as the event is scheduled to have talks from other high-level executives and games industry giants. The biggest is Valve, which will be discussing its platform Steam as well as its upcoming portable PC, the Steam Deck. While some of the content will be free to stream, other bits – like the Valve chats – will require viewers to purchase a ticket.

It’s important to keep in mind that this show doesn’t seem orientated to general consumers. While there will likely be news pertaining to video game fans, the emphasis seems to be on those actively involved in the games industry, like developers, publishers, and investors. That means that the talks could be considered dry for those that are only interested in playing games rather than producing them.

GI Live is happening in tandem with EGX, though, which is more enthusiast-oriented. EGX offers fans a chance to play new and upcoming games watch esports competitions, and more. There’s also space dedicated to retro games, tabletop games, and some of the other interests in the gaming world that aren't typically represented at trade shows.

While it might not be safe to expect huge news from Ryan at GI Live, there will likely still be some insight into the PlayStation brand, and possibly even how PlayStation will evolve in coming years. That should be enough to pique fans’ interest on its own, as a glimpse into the future is always an exciting way to fuel speculation.
