Popular Streamer Ninja Gets 'Kidnapped' in Apex Legends

During the final fight of a high-ranked Apex Legends match, one Wraith player outmaneuvers popular streamer Ninja and 'kidnaps' him.

Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins may be practically synonymous with Fortnite, but that certainly doesn’t prevent him from playing other games and being involved elsewhere. For example, he recently discussed what he wants to see out of Halo Infinite and has been known to play other games like Apex Legends, where he was recently ‘kidnapped’ by an enemy Wraith.

Prior to the Ranked Split, one stream sees Ninja playing as Seer during a Diamond Ranked match. He and his squad are in the final three where they manage to eliminate the other team before turning to the third party, with all of this happening in Apex Legends season 10’s Landslide location. It’s during this firefight that a Wrath jumps down on top of him, pulls their ult, and kidnaps him.

Utilizing Wraith’s ultimate ability, the other player managed to snatch Ninja and teleport him to the top of the crane. The portal was placed in the air making escape much more difficult, though not impossible, and yet Ninja attempts to fight on. He dies here, thanks to the skill of the other Wraith.

Indeed, “kidnapping” is by no means a new tactic in Apex Legends, but it is a dangerous one to pull off. It’s on the same level of using Wraith of another movement-based Apex Legends character to get a party’s attention, make them think their solo, and lead them into a trap.

Either way, Ninja appears to have been surprised by the tactic (as seen in his face in the clip above), but he wasn’t mad. In fact, a moment after his death, he goes, “that’s the coolest sh*t I’ve ever seen.” While it’s easy to get mad in a competitive game like Apex Legends, it’s nice to see this sort of reaction, as it’s a case of simply getting outplayed by the other team. The other team likely knew it was a risk, but it paid off.

As Apex Legends season 10 continues, there will no doubt continue to be “big brain” plays in various games, streams, and so on—much like this Wraith’s tactic. Fans of the game are likely aware, however, that these plays won’t be happening on World’s Edge. As the “midway” point of the season has now been passed, the Ranked Split nows sees Ranked players duking it out on Kings Canyon. Should they want to continue the new Apex Chronicles Bloodhound event though, they’ll need to return to World’s Edge in the standard playlist.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
