Moonglow Bay surprised a lot of game lovers with its announcement in March, 2021. The voxel fishing RPG offered up a beautiful slice of life experience alongside a deeper mystery easily catching the attention of Xbox fans. That Moonglow Bay was confirmed as an Xbox Game Pass day-one release only sweetened the reveal. Unfortunately, it seems that Moonglow Bay isn't quite ready for its previously announced release date. The team at Bunnyhug is asking fans to wait just a short while longer.
Developer Bunnyhug and publisher Coatsink confirmed Moonglow Bay's release date with a new trailer in late August. At the time, Moonglow Bay was slated for launch on October 7, which is just a week away now. Some last-minute issues must have cropped up, however, as Moonglow Bay has now been delayed by just a short while. Instead of October 7, Moonglow Bay will now launch on October 26, a delay of just under three weeks.

A statement provided by indie dev Bunnyhug provided some context for the delay. The team says that in the weeks leading up to the initial October 7 release date it discovered some "pesky bugs." The team must have tried to stomp them out for launch, but wasn't able to get everything finalized in time. The current state of the game is described as the "final stage of development" with just a few "final hurdles" to pass before launch. Suffice to say, it's likely just a matter of getting certification after fixing these last bugs before the game can launch.
Despite the delay, no other plans revolving around Moonglow Bay's launch have changed. That means that Moonglow Bay remains an Xbox Game Pass launch date release. It'll be available on both Xbox Game Pass for Console and Xbox Game Pass for PC on the new release date.
When Moonglow Bay does arrive, it'll offer players a unique slice-of-life experience that's rare to see. Players will be able to take their ship out into the bay, set crab traps, fish for a diverse range of over 100 catches, and then return home and cook what they've caught. The bay extends into areas of freezing glaciers and boiling geysers, ensuring players will be diving into an experience much larger than meets the eye.
Moonglow Bay may not be the hottest upcoming addition to Xbox Game Pass. October alone has big releases including Back 4 Blood and Age of Empires 4 planned. But Moonglow Bay is absolutely a unique experience with its own following that has been looking forward to the game's eventual release. It certainly seems worth the wait.
Moonglow Bay releases October 26 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
