Not only is the film meant to adapt the events of both Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2, but it also connects the Raccoon City outbreak to some iconic characters from Resident Evil Code: Veronica and brings the tragic Lisa Trevor back in what seems to be a bigger role. However, one fan quickly spotted another easter egg planted in the trailer for sharp-eyed gamers to notice.

In the original Resident Evil game, players found themselves exploring the isolated Spencer Mansion, located several miles into the mountains on the outskirts of Raccoon City. This remote location is well known for being filled with iconic Resident Evil monsters, but it also featured some striking interior decor. Redditor ChrisAvenue_ spotted one painting in particular that appears to have been carefully recreated in the movie trailer.

The painting ChrisAvenue_ drew attention to can be found in the 2002 remaster of Resident Evil. It is located in the dining hall and shows two knights in the middle of a swordfight, captured with their swords apparently run through each other's bodies. The Resident Evil series' lore has always been filled with stories of revenge and self-destruction, which may be reflected in this painting. The image was important enough that the film crew decided to include it in the first Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer, where it can be spotted on the wall behind Chris Redfield as he advances deeper into the mansion.

Gamers may notice a few differences between the game and movie versions of the painting, primarily in its presentation.
