Red Dead Redemption 2’s staying power cannot be understated. In contrast to the popularity of Grand Theft Auto Online, this is mostly because of all the insane possibilities and small details in the game’s excellent story. However, that’s not to say Red Dead Online is devoid of attention-getting shenanigans, including mysterious ghost horse spawns, interesting character creations like GTA’s Trevor and Toy Story’s Woody, and so on.
The latest Red Dead Online shenanigan has gotten some attention across social media like TikTok, where poster Attack_Helicopter4200 has earned over 5 million views in less than a week, in a video that features a friendly challenge between two players. It’s essentially in two parts, as some players debate who actually won the challenge, but others are caught up by the hilarious audio and reaction in the video.

Standing on top of a bridge, Attack_Helicopter4200 and his friend are aiming to jump down into the water and see who can get closer to Red Dead Online’s boat. Both players jump one after the other, with the poster landing just in front of the boat first and then his friend coming crashing down afterward. The second player manages to hit the boat, but it’s the sound effect that has fans going wild over it.
As seen above, a hilarious yell can be heard in the background as the player falls and then a hard “thunk” can be heard as he hits the boat and rolls out. This has led some to argue over which Red Dead Online player won the competition, as whether or not hitting the boat counts as getting close to it. Many have praised the sheer sound of the yell and the hit on the boat, while others have made jokes about the Red Dead Online NPC who just gets on rowing. “Raining idiots again” stands out as a hilarious response.
It may not actually matter who won this Red Dead Online content, as it’s hilarious either way, and even those invested in the debate are taking it in stride as the hilarious interaction it is. If anything else, it shows how strong the Red Dead Redemption community is when it comes together, as while Red Dead Online griefers once seemingly ran the game (and sometimes still do), there’s a lot of good too.
This may be the latest in Red Dead Redemption Tiktok trends, but it won’t be the last. As long as the game remains so popular, fans can expect more hilarious videos on the horizon.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
