Learn how to make Insight, one of the best and easily obtainable Act 2 Mercenary Runewords available in Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Quick Links

Insight is one of the best Runewords to make in Diablo 2: Resurrected, as its required Runes are some of the easiest to obtain in the game. It's popular with casters, but is also widely used with Act 2 Mercenaries.

To create Insight in Diablo 2: Resurrected, players need to find or make 4 specific Runes and insert them into a Polearm or Stave with 4 empty sockets. This guide will detail how to get and make these Runes, and where players can locate a compatible 4-socket weapon.

How to Get Insight Runeword in Diablo 2

To make the Insight Runeword, players will need to acquire a Ral, Tir, Tal, and Sol Rune, then insert them into a 4-socket Polearm or Stave while their character is Level 27 or above. While the Runeword can be used to help characters, like the Diablo 2 Resurrected Javelin Amazon build, Insight is most commonly used on Act 2 Mercenary equipment. Meaning anybody wanting to take advantage of the mercenaries' fantastic healing and buff abilities will want to equip them with Insight as soon as they can.

The full stats of an Insight Polearm or Stave are:

  • Level 12-17 Meditation Aura When Equipped
  • +35% Faster Cast Rate
  • +200-260% Enhanced Damage (varies)
  • +9 To Minimum Damage
  • 180-250% Bonus to Attack Rating
  • Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
  • +75 Poison Damage Over 5 Seconds
  • +1-6 To Critical Strike
  • +5 To All Attributes
  • +2 To Mana After Each Kill
  • 23% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

A 4-Socket Polearm or Stave will start to drop in Act 1 of Nightmare difficulty. Reducing any Magic Find attached to a character will help players in their search for the required Normal-type weapon. Alternatively, players can use their Larzuk quest reward in Act 5 to gain an additional slot on a 3-socket Polearm or Stave in Normal difficulty, or use a Horadric Cube recipe in Diablo 2: Resurrected to gamble for another slot.

However, it's advised not to waste these quests early on, and just wait until players reach Act 1 of Diablo 2: Resurrected in Nightmare difficulty. Quest rewards and Cube ingredients can be made even more useful later on in a character's journey.

Where to Get All Insight Runes in Diablo 2

Where to Get Ral Rune in Diablo 2

Ral is one of the easiest Runes to get in Diablo 2, and by the end of a Normal playthrough, players will almost certainly have one in their stash, as long as they haven't been selling Runes. If they have been sold, a Ral Rune can be easily found by doing Countess runs.

This involves going to the Black Marsh in Act 1, and locating the entrance to the Forgotten Tower. She can then be found on the fifth level. The countess can drop Ral after she is defeated while playing on any difficulty in Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Where to Get Tir Rune in Diablo 2

Tir can also drop by killing the Countess at any difficulty. Alternatively, if players have 3 Eld Runes, they can insert them in the Horadric Cube and transmute them into 1 Tir Rune.

Where to Get Tal Rune in Diablo 2

Tal is another low-level Rune that can easily drop by killing the Countess while playing at any difficulty. The 'Rescue on Mount Arreat' quest will also award players with Tal, along with Ral and Ort Runs. These additional Runes are useful for making a Diablo 2: Resurrected 4-Socket Shield with the Spirit Runeword attached to it.

Where to Get Sol Rune in Diablo 2

The Sol Rune in Diablo 2 can be obtained by defeating the Countess on Nightmare or Hell difficulty. It can also be made in the Horadric Cube by transmuting three Amn Runes and 1 Chipped Amethyst. Unfortunately, creating an Amn Runes isn't easy, and requires a lot of other low-level Rune farming to make. It's best to farm for Amn or Sol in Nightmare difficulty instead of wasting time with the Countess on Normal.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
