Strange Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Glitch Replaces Player’s Head With A Gun

After parachuting inside of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak mode, one player manages to get their weapon stuck in a weird spot.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is certainly more stable that it used to be, players are still finding strange bugs inside the game. The latest is particularly odd, as it sees a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player’s gun swapping places with their Operator’s head.

The bug in question seems to be tied to free falling and the game’s parachute system. This makes sense, as one incredibly common Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bug is tied to pulling parachutes. If players do so from an odd angle, they can permanently flip their camera so that it is on the side of the screen or upside down. With the glitch persisting until players get on a vehicle or the match ends, it can be as frustrating as it is funny. Another glitch can happen if players cut their parachute and allow themselves to fall from an extreme height.

With an upgraded version of the Stamin-Up perk equipped, players should have an immunity to fall damage. While this can be useful in round-based maps, the massive heights players can reach in Outbreak should make this even more useful. Unfortunately, the game will sometimes struggle to function properly if players crash land at certain angles. Redditor ggjones41 shared a clear example of this, though getting stuck was only one part of the bug in question.

The player can be seen with their arms in the air, with the game not recognizing that they have landed on the floor. As such, if the player had hit a ladder, they likely could have replicated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s flying bug. Instead, they landed on the cold hard slopes of Alpine, with their arms remaining raised for several seconds. With no hands available to hold their gun, the weapon found itself in an odd spot. Specifically, the Redditor’s head.

Seeing an upside-down Gallo right in the center of the camera is an interesting sight, as it essentially makes the player look like a walking tank. Unfortunately, it seems like the player could not fire their new head, instead needing to wait out the funny glitch. On the bright side, they did not have to be patient for long. After about 15 seconds, the gun came back into their hands, with the player interacting with Outbreak’s exfil beacon and the Pack-A-Punch machine so that they could continue with the rest of their match.

With the glitch being so brief, it can hardly be considered game-breaking. While it likely startled the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player that discovered it, those watching the clip should get a laugh out of the strange occurrence.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
