Combing the might of the Minecraft building mechanic with their love of Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, one fan rebuilds a popular home from the epic RPG.

One of the things that keeps games like Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim going is not just its expansive lore and gameplay, nor the fact that it gets re-released on multiple consoles, but the modding community, who dedicate themselves to modding the game with additional content or game tweaks. As well as fan-made add-ons, Bethesda introduced the Creation Club in 2017, which allows players to download mods that have been approved by the studio itself. Now, one fan has managed to take one of these CC builds, and recreate it in another massively popular game.

Uploading a couple of images to the Skyrim Subreddit recently, user Candle_Kobold has managed to replicate the game's Tundra Homestead building in Minecraft. While at a cursory glance, it may appear to some to be just a nicely constructed home that's been done in the open world sandbox game, there are a couple of things which reference it to the Elder Scrolls home. One notable feature is the dragon heads that are affixed on top of the roof gable, as well as the small tower that is towards the back of the home.

For those who don't know, the Tundra Homestead resides to the east of the city of Whiterun, and is similar in style to the homes players have in the Hearthfire add-on. It comes as part of the Elianora Home Bundle. The home is supposed to provide a getaway from the stresses of battles and adventures, and comes fully-furnished and features a crafting station. The user has lovingly recreated the home in Minecraft and has shown attention to detail, particularly to the outside, in order to faithfully replicate the original building.

Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time the worlds of Skyrim and Minecraft have come together. Last year, a fan decided to recreate the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in the blocky game, which impressively includes the riddle asked at the entrance. Again, similar to Candle_Kobold's work, this recreation has been crafted with a degree of dedication, time, and skill in making sure the Minecraft version is as accurate as the Elder Scrolls original.

Both games are ripe for modding and customization, so fans creating aspects of one in another is an inevitability. It shows how much fans love Skyrim, but it also shows the versatility of Mojang's IP. With one Minecraft fan recreating Rivendell from The Lord of the Rings, it shows not just the near-endless possibilities of the crafting and building game, but also the talent that goes into many of these creations.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
