With Minecraft Live just a few days away, a video goes live on the game's official YouTube channel which teases a potential darkness-seeking mob.

Almost ten years after coming out of beta, Minecraft is showing no signs of slowing down, with the game selling by the millions and fans dedicating themselves to creating content and stunning builds. With near-infinite replayability and possibilities, it's hardly surprising that it's still going strong. Neither is it surprising that the game has its own annual convention, which is dedicated to the fans and to announcing new content. With that, a teaser has been unveiled which showcases a potential new entry into the world, which players will be able to vote for.

Uploading a video to the official Minecraft YouTube channel, the one-minute trailer shows a cute pixelated animation in which a new mob has been announced. The video introduces the mob as The Glare, and announces that players will be able to vote for it to be added to the game at this year's Minecraft Live. The Glare is a floating creature that appears to be a pair of eyes behind something. Its purpose is to let the player know that the area being traversed in is dark enough for enemy mobs to spawn. Essentially, it seems as though it will act as a warning that danger may be ahead.

Fans will be able to vote whether they want The Glare to be added in a future update at Minecraft Live which will be going ahead on October 16. The livestreaming event will start at 9am PDT, 12pm EDT, and 5pm BST. There will also be a couple more mobs that the public will get to vote on, but they have yet to be announced as of this article going live.

Minecraft Live is a good opportunity for the players to have content that they would like to see added to the game. Last year, the community voted to have the glow squid put into Minecraft. This fan favorite is a variation on the regular in-game squid only, as the name suggests, it glows, and can be found deep underwater. It's allegedly much harder to spot than a regular squid, but its luminous glow does make it stand out better.

The game is forever growing, keeping it fresh and injecting new ideas into the blocky universe. Minecraft's latest iteration is the Caves and Cliffs update, which comes in two parts. The first part was released in the summer, with the second part coming out before the end of this year. The Glare could potentially be the latest mob to be put into the game, though that will depend on whether fans vote for it, which could all come down to what the other two will be.

Minecraft is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
