Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi comments online about playing through the story of Final Fantasy 14 recently.

The developer known widely as the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has recently gone online to share his experience with Final Fantasy 14, commenting on the story as he progresses through the game. This has been seen as an uplifting sight from fans, especially considering how long it has been since Sakaguchi has had his hands in the development of a Final Fantasy title.

Though Sakaguchi is credited as the creator of Final Fantasy, the developer left Square Enix in 2004 and has since founded the development company Mistwalker. So, aside from a moment like this with Sakaguchi diving into Final Fantasy 14 for fun, he hasn't been involved in the series, instead moving on to work on titles like Lost Odyssey and the Terra Battle series.

In a tweet, Sakaguchi shared an image of his Lalafell character walking up to the Gates of Judgement in Ishgard, with an accompanying caption about the story up until this point. The developer mentions that the story of Final Fantasy 14 unfolds rapidly, which is an aspect of the game that has drawn many players into the ongoing MMO for some time now. However, the original comment is in Japanese, so there may be some nuance in the exact comments that are lost in translation, such as how Sakaguchi mentions that the feeling of isolation in the game helps to motivate to push forward.

Fans commenting on the tweet have also begun sharing their own enjoyment of Final Fantasy 14's jobs and story elements, as well as congratulating Sakaguchi on his progress. Overall, the fanbase, mostly also commenting in Japanese as well, appear to be both showing their appreciation of the game, as well as to Sakaguchi for his part in getting the series to this point in the first place. Especially considering the way that the developer has previously influenced the fantasy aspects of the Final Fantasy series over the science fiction, this appears to be a great match for Sakaguchi and fans of his work.

With Final Fantasy 14 seeing more players now than ever, it appears to be motivating for some of these new and veteran players to see the series creator enjoying the game so much. Looking at his work on everything from the first Final Fantasy to other titles in the series that find their way to the top of fans' lists of favorite games like Final Fantasy 9, Sakaguchi's opinion does have some weight among the community. It's exciting to see him enjoy his progress now, especially considering that he doesn't have the obligation of being a current employee working for Square Enix.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
