Recent photos show even more of the sets being used for HBO's adaptation of The Last Of Us.

The Last of Us is the next video game to get a live-action adaptation that will be coming to HBO for gamers and viewers alike. The Last of Us will be following a duo during a post-apocalyptic society 20 years after civilization has ended.

The Last of Us will be adapting the storyline of the original game while also incorporating some elements of the sequel into it. The story will also be taking its own creative liberties in some aspects for the 10 episode mini-series set to air in 2022. This is set to be something well done as it will have the game's creator, Neil Druckmann, along with Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) as the writers and executive producers of the show. Hopefully, it will stay true to the original vision while it adapts a new media format.

The recent photos have shown the set in a new light. This follows the recent set leaks that show the two main characters in costume from behind which looks straight out the video game scenes. The new photos really show that they appear to be staying true to the source with how grotesque and infested everything looks including broken-down cars, crashed helicopters, tall vegetation, and isolated city blocks.

Staying close to the story is a smart but safe decision that they can afford to do. Right now there aren't many examples of video game adaptations that are done well so if this looks to be one of the first trailblazers then it should definitely stick in the realm of comfort in order to raise the chances of doing well.

Video games are the next wave of adaptations that will be hitting theaters. Many shouldn't be surprised when they see the plethora of announced projects finally get in the hands of viewers and fans. Fallout, Metal Gear, Uncharted, The Witcher, Pokémon, Mortal Kombat, and Mario are a few of the many video game adaptations that are being worked on, released, or already out. It's an exciting time for many gamers but many want to see it done properly.

Some fans can make the argument that sony is seriously milking The Last of Us. The game got a remaster in recent memory, dropped a sequel, was announced for a live-action episodic series, got a theatrical play adaptation, and also is getting a remake exclusively for Playstation 5. Many want to see Sony explore either future stories or do another game as the game itself holds up well storywise and gameplay-wise.

The Last of Us is currently in production.
