With rumors about Nvidia releasing a desktop version of the RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti doing the rounds earlier this year, new information outlines more.

For as long as Nvidia and AMD have been around, there has always been a battle for graphics card supremacy. But with Intel recently announcing its own brand of graphical hardware, the two other giants may have their work cut out for them. As a result, both are scrambling to get products out, even in the midst of a global tech shortage. Unsurprisingly then, it seems, Nvidia may be about to unveil desktop versions of two of its GPUs which were launched earlier this year, with some new details being rumored.

In a recent tweet, kopite7kimi, who is known for leaking information about hardware, discusses new specs of the supposed upcoming desktop variants of the Nvidia RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti. According to the leaker, the RTX 3050 will likely have either 4 GB or 8 GB of memory, while the Ti version will have 3,072 CUDA cores and either 6 GB or 12 GB of VRAM. A report from Videocardz says that if this is the case, then the latter could be on par with AMD's recently released 6600, though it possibly won't be in the same league as the 6600 XT.

The laptop version of the GeForce 3050 Ti was confirmed earlier this year, and talks about Nvidia releasing it, and the 3050, for desktop PCs were doing the rounds but have dropped off since, until now. The leaker also doesn't mention any potential release date, and there is not much else to go on just yet, which means there's no information about clock speed etc. It's also worth iterating at this point that these are just rumors. While kopite7kimi is known to have some pretty accurate details, his tweets have not yet been confirmed by Nvidia.

Of course, both AMD and Nvidia are going to want to launch new products around the time that Intel releases its "Alchemist" card sometime next year. On top of that, additional rumors state Nvidia may be prepping its 4000 series, ushering in the next generation of graphics cards. Again, these have not been confirmed by official sources, but will probably see the light of day next year.

Speculations aside, the world is still experiencing a shortage of hardware and gaming tech, which could mean customers are unable to buy new products, no matter how many Nvidia wishes to put out. While AMD's CEO has said that shortages could ease next year, there are still a lot of uncertainties as to how the market will look when these new products hit the shelves.
