This week's free Epic Games Store titles are available now, and fans can prepare for the frights that await them with next week's release.

It's that time of the week again, as the Epic Games Store has dropped its latest free game. As with every game release, the Epic Games Store has also revealed the title for next week, and the Halloween trend appears to be continuing.

Many free games have given by the Epic Games Store in 2021, and with two months still to go, there are still plenty of games on the way. With last week's game drop, Epic Games revealed Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Paladins Epic Pack as this week's exclusive offerings, the former being a remaster of the 2005 cult classic on the original Xbox, and the latter being DLC for the multiplayer shooter Paladins. In this pretty zany game, players control Stubbs the Zombie who, as expected of a zombie, is just looking for some fresh brains to consume, but the humans are not very cooperative. The Paladins Epic Pack instantly gives players four new champions—Androxus, Raum, Tyra, and Ying—as well as four new skins.

Both Stubbs the Zombie and the Paladins Epic Pack are now officially available to download on the Epic Games Store. As with previous Epic Games Store drops, users have from now until October 21 at 8:00 AM to claim these titles. Epic Games has also revealed next week's free title to be Among the Sleep Enhanced Edition, the 2017 remaster of the original 2014 game. Don't be deceived by the toddler clutching the teddy bear in the artwork because this is one very unsettling game.

Among the Sleep is a first-person survival horror game developed by Krillbite Studio, where the player controls a toddler as they explore a number of dimly-lit environments. Players are assisted by a teddy-bear named Teddy that they can hug to illuminate their surroundings, though not very long. Throughout Among the Sleep, the player is pursued by monsters, and with no way of defending themselves, the only thing players can do is hide and hope they aren't found. Krillbite Studio developed Among the Sleep after a successful Kickstarter.

While Stubbs the Zombie also features horror iconography like zombies and gore, it is a pretty goofy game that is more offputting than it is scary. For this reason, Among the Sleep will certainly give those looking for something a bit more bone-chilling and potentially horrifying if they were disappointed by Stubbs the Zombie. Until next week, when fans will know what (hopefully) terrifying title the Epic Games Store will be dropping for Halloween.
