As Halloween approaches, Overwatch is celebrating the spooky season with a new edition of the Halloween Terror event. Ever since the game launched back in 2016, Overwatch has been known for its collection of seasonal event skins, particularly those for Halloween. While the developers have released skins for many different heroes over past events, some of the most iconic skins belong to Mercy.
Part of the original cast of heroes, Mercy is a Support character. While her Caduceus Blaster fails to output a lot of damage, her team utility makes her a viable pick. Using her Caduceus Staff, she can heal teammates. However, her staff also has offensive capabilities as it can increase DPS output for a member of her team. In addition, she can revive fallen players using her Resurrect ability. Even though these abilities will not earn many gold medals for eliminations, they make Mercy a popular pick for many teams. Recently, one fan decided to create new concept art for the character, reimagining the Support hero as a famous villain.

In a Reddit post, a user known as thanwa3427 shared concept art for a new Halloween skin for Mercy. One of the more unique aspects of this new skin was that the artist based the design on the Joker from DC comics. In the new design for Mercy, the creator included elements from the Joker’s iconic look, such as red, white, and blue face paint. In addition, this new skin concept gave Mercy a red jacket with a yellow and green shirt underneath. The artist even copied one of the poses made by the Joker in the 2019 film.
The Overwatch community on Reddit has taken notice of this concept art for thanwa3427's Halloween Mercy skin. With over 5,000 upvotes, fans enjoyed this new take on the healer. Many liked the color combination the artist used, noting that it mirrored the look of the Joker. Others commented that they wanted to see the artist create a Joker skin for Junkrat next.
Besides this new skin concept from thanwa3427, other fans have been making Halloween-inspired designs for Overwatch characters. Recently, another artist designed a Vampire Queen outfit for Mercy. In addition, a Halloween-themed Mercy skin already exists in the game. During the Halloween Terror event, players can pick up the 2016 Witch skin for the Support hero.
It’s exciting when creative fans decide to give the community different looks at familiar characters that they probably would not see otherwise. It will be interesting to see if thanwa3427 creates more skins for Overwatch heroes based on other DC Comics characters.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
