Deathloop's first major game update addresses several issues fans have raised, including making NPCs smarter and fixing issues with Julianna.

Deathloop has generally been well-received by fans and critics, but many gamers have observed that this immersive first-person shooter/roguelite is far from perfect. It appears that the developers are also aware of the game's flaws, and Deathloop's first major game update is dedicated to improving the NPC AI and fixing lingering issues.

One of the biggest complaints about Deathloop was its "dumb" AI, which appeared to prioritize consistency over curiosity or even remembering that Colt existed when he was outside of a given character's line of sight. Game Update 1 has reportedly improved NPC pathing and reactions to the player in general, with some additional tweaks added to affect the behavior of specific characters. It also appears to have enhanced camera smoothness, added some new features for both PS5 and PC editions, and resolved several issues that could cause the game to crash.

Game Update 1 is big, about 5GB on PS5 and 11GB on PC. The PS5 version gives players a calibration screen for HDR while the PC version adds support for Nvidia DLSS and the Sony DualSense controller audio as well as settings for fog quality. Both platforms will now feature an onscreen poor-connection indicator. All of this could be good news for Deathloop players who wanted major fixes, but the update also includes a variety of more intricate tweaks.

Aleksis Dorsey's reactions have been changed to make him easier to pick out among his party guests, an issue that could reset Colt's progress has been fixed, and improvements have been made to the content of PS5 Activities & Game Help systems, vibrations of the DualSense controller, and audio mix quality. The PC version specifically has fixed an issue with the mouse wheel. Both versions of the game have now fixed unlock issues with the "Oops" and "Deathday Suit" achievements as well as issues with leaning inconsistency.

Finally, a number of issues related to playing as Julianna in Deathloop have been addressed, including a crash issue when a Julianna player unlocks a feat using Havoc. The developers have put a stop to both Julianna's actions directly unlocking achievements for Colt and Julianna players overhearing radio conversations meant for Colt's ears only. They have also fixed a bug that caused assassinations to occasionally glitch for Julianna players on top of making sure that laser mines, turrets, and fireworks are functioning correctly for both Colt and Julianna players.

Deathloop is out now for PC and PS5.
