When it comes to brutal realism mixed with fast-paced gameplay, Hell Let Loose will definitely scratch that action fix some FPS fans have--especially if they like the World War 2 era of battlefield adventures. Like in a real army, there are multiple roles for different individuals, depending on a player's desired specialization.

Those wishing to become the best soldier that they can possibly be should try to determine which role is the most enjoyable for them, as, after doing so, gamers will be able to better excel at that role's specific tasks. There are 14 available roles overall in Hell Let Loose, and they are roughly divided into 4 main categories.
Commander
The only role that's also a category, the Commander role stands out for being one of the few not directly involved in combat, as they take on leadership and planning responsibilities. Commanders are in charge of communication between squads and making decisions as well as coming up with and coordinating various strategies. They also heavily use the map in their many tactical pursuits.
Infantry
This category is the largest, as it holds the most roles in Hell Let Loose.
Rifleman
The most generic of roles, the Rifleman is a standard combat unit that is well-balanced but has no specialization. This role is also the only type that is not limited in number.
Automatic Rifleman
A variation of a Rifleman that now carries a fully automatic rifle, these units are the heavy-hitters in battles and are meant to overwhelm enemy forces with firepower superiority.
Officer
These soldiers are responsible for leading individual squads. Officers do this by setting spawn points as well as communicating with other Officers and the Commander for coordinating tactics.
Anti-Tank
As the name implies, this Infantry role is designed to offer fire support against armored vehicles. They have weapons specialized to take down tanks, which makes them the ideal role for those who like to destroy metal beasts.

Machine Gunner
Soldiers of this role will possess medium machine guns that are excellent at suppressing enemy Infantry. Propper Machine Gunner tactics will result in being able to lock down foes who are on foot at mid-range, which is useful for a great many offensive strategies.
Assault
This role also has access to rapid-fire weaponry, however, they are better at close-range combat. Assault units are like shock troopers who are meant to run and gun at maximum ferocity.
Medic
Players in the role of a Medic are the only ones capable of healing and reviving other soldiers on the battlefield. As such, they can be crucial for helping wounded allies recover and stay in the game.
Engineer
Engineers, while not offering much power in terms of firearms, have great destructive potential. Those who enjoy blowing up targets and breaching entrances with a plethora of explosive devices should try being an Engineer in Hell Let Loose.
Support
Troops of this role will be vital to their allies in protracted conflicts, as, not only do they set the spawn points for Officers, but they also carry ammo that can resupply their allies. Furthermore, they are in charge of setting up Anti-Tank emplacements, making them important for multiple team synergies.
Recon
Consisting of only 2 roles, Recon units are meant to be scouts and provide long-range fire support.
Sniper
Easily the unit with the greatest combat range (besides tanks), Snipers can take down targets at far distances and are great for covering certain areas to prevent enemy advances. They wield long-ranged rifles that have much better optical sights than most other guns.

Spotter
Spotters are in charge of relaying important information to Snipers. Most of the time, Spotters will be paired with specific Snipers to form deadly long-ranged duos.
Armor
The most resilient units in the game, Armor troops reside within formidable tanks and can only usually be taken down by enemy Anti-Tank soldiers or the more daring Engineers.
Tank Commander
The leader of a tank's internal squad, this troop makes decisions about how the armored vehicle operates, including how things are done in combat.
Crewman
These soldiers are in charge of operating the tank, whether it is driving the armored vehicle or shooting its cannon and other mounted weapons.
Hell Let Loose is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
