Splash Damage, the studio behind Gears Tactics, will be creating a brand new game with an original sci-fi universe from the developer.

Splash Damage is an acclaimed studio that has developed a number of video games, with most of the studio's experience being multiplayer modes of various first-person and third-person shooter games. This includes the likes of Batman: Arkham Origins to the Gears of War franchise. The studio was also responsible for bringing Halo: The Master Chief Collection to the PC, as well as the critically acclaimed Gears Tactics spin-off. With all of this experience and more under its belt, the studio announced that its newest work will be a completely new IP set in an original Sci-Fi universe.

This announcement came with news celebrating that the studio had reached its 20th anniversary, with the last few posts on its site being a retrospective on past games developed. This includes looking back on the studio's first game, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory from 2003, which helped pave the way for other games like Gears of War 4 and Gears 5. However, the post also expressed the desire for the company to break out and make something new, hence this new title.

Not much is known about this new game from Splash Damage, other than a piece of concept art and that it will be an original IP much like Brink, Dirty Bomb, and Outcasters. The game is also in very early development, as indicated by the number of job openings that were posted to the site's career page, with important key positions like an animation programmer, art director, development director, and more.

Based on the job postings, the game will be multiplatform, with mobile, Stadia, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox being listed as the required console experience. The game will be also using the Unreal Engine, due to the studio's primary experience in using Epic's game engine for many of its shipped titles. It will also have an original sci-fi setting.

Other positions for this team have been posted to the careers section of Splash Damage's website. This includes several benefits and coverages that will be provided if an employee is hired by the company. It's unknown how much pre-planning or production of this game has been done so far, or what genre of game it will be. Presumably, based on the studio's past titles, it could be another first-person or third-person shooter, or it could be something completely different. In any case, hopefully, this game can live up to the expectations placed upon the studio.
