Despite Skyrim turning 10 years old next month, players continue to have unusual experiences in the game. Many of these occurrences deal with the many NPCs found in the world. From hunting to smithing, these characters play an important role in the game. With approximately 60,000 voice lines in Skyrim, the variation found among the various NPCs is impressive for a near decade-old title. Recently, one player had a surprising meeting with one of the game’s NPCs while exploring.
In a Reddit post, a user known as KOD_2014 shared a video of a shocking encounter with an NPC. The video started with the player walking down a cobblestone path. A little way up the road, a large stone wall was visible with a large set of doors leading to the other side of the barrier. Everything about the scene was pleasant; the sun was shining with no other characters around the area. At least that’s what the player thought...

Unbeknownst to KOD_2014, they were being watched. After a brief jog to the wall, the player neared the large iron door. Before passing through to the other side of the wall, the player took a glance towards the bushes on the left side of the path. As they opened the door and prepared to carry on with their journey, it happened. Suddenly, a random NPC appeared. Coming from seemingly nowhere, the NPC, a member of the Argonian race, promptly asked the startled player if they wanted to make some money.
The Skyrim community on Reddit has taken notice of this hilarious yet terrifying encounter KOD_2014 had with a random Argonian. With over 10,000 upvotes in less than a day, fans were equally surprised by the appearance of the NPC. One gamer commented that it seemed like these types of unusual encounters happened to him when he was “immersed in the game and not expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen.” In addition, many other fans chimed in, telling their own weird adventures in Skyrim, such as one player witnessing a mammoth being “launched” into the sky.
This video clip shared by KOD_2014 comes as many other players have made unique discoveries in the game’s open world. One Skyrim player stumbled across a mammoth frozen in the ice, while another gamer found a giant riding on the back of a dragon. These are just a few examples of the many encounters players have made in the past few months.
It seems that the world of Skyrim will never run out of discoveries for adventurous fans to uncover. While many wait for a sequel to the classic 2011 game, it will be interesting to see what other strange encounters players find in the wilds of Skyrim during the interim.
