Square Enix Reveals Babylon's Fall Changes Based On Player Feedback

Square Enix releases a post that contains a list of changes that were made to the video game Babylon's Fall following player feedback.

Babylon's Fall is an action RPG game being published by Square Enix and developed by Japanese developer PlatinumGames. Earlier this year, the closed beta for Babylon's Fall was released in its first two phases and the Phase 3 closed beta is scheduled for November 15 - 17, 2021.

When the beta for Babylon's Fall came out in the first two phases, plenty of players who participated shared their criticisms of the game. Recently, Square Enix released a post from the development team that shows it used the player feedback to make changes to the game in time for the Phase 3 closed beta. The post also contains the list of changes made to Babylon's Fall based on players' feedback.

The first change was the graphics in Babylon's Fall were made more "readable." Now, close objects are rendered more sharply than before while retaining the distinctive oil-painting art style in the background. Action has been tweaked, resulting in combat having an excitable "ebb and flow" to it. The developers also added more unique actions for each of the main weapon types, and they will share more details in an upcoming YouTube broadcast.

The third change is that the difficulty level has been tweaked to accommodate players who want to play solo or with smaller groups of friends. This was accomplished by implementing a mechanic to the game that will automatically adjust a quest's difficulty based on the number of players involved. Equipment effects that provide extra perks and abilities in combat have been revised and renamed to be more "intuitive" than before.

For the fifth change, the developers revised the game's confusing terminology to be easier to follow. For example, the term for attack mode changed from Vulcan mode to Standard mode. Players can see player loadouts now at base camp locations or in quests, letting players compare their character builds. Default settings have been altered for player comfortability, and some changes were made to the options menu to give players more information and control.

Travel between base camps is easier by making it so players can just use the system menu to travel between camps. Base camp facilities are easier to find thanks to outlines added to things in the game, like the quest board and the gift item box. In-game tips will now also show up on the loading screen to help explain the game's features.

The post also reveals that in addition to the mentioned ten changes, the development team for Babylon's Fall are working on more player-requested gameplay features that will be included in the official release of Babylon's Fall. This includes private base camps, the ability to hide headgear, and support for keyboard and mouse controls for the Steam version. Also, improvements to functionality, like selecting multiple items to dismantle or sell at once, and adding more tutorials and help features for Babylon's Fall.

Babylon's Fall is in development for PC, PS4, and PS5.
