Quick Links
Since Far Cry 5, players were able to use Fangs for Hire, animal companions that would help fight enemies. Far Cry 6 has a total of 5 animal companions, who are referred to as "amigos". However, those who played Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 may notice a familiar face among the roster.
Boomer makes a return in Far Cry 6 under a different name: Boom Boom. Known for aiding the deputy in their liberation of Hope County from Joseph Seed, he now assists Dani in Yara. Like the other Far Cry amigos, he can be unlocked by completing a specific sidequest.

Sidequest: Boom or Bust
Players will get Boom Boom by completing the mission "Boom or Bust". If they wish to get Boom Boom as soon as possible, they should head towards Valle de Oro and assist the Maximas Matanzas before going to the other three regions (Madrugada, El Este, and Esperanza).
Once this is done, inspect a note pinned to a post in the encampment. This will describe a weapon shipment that was sent to Feroza from America. Players will now be able to mark the quest "Boom or Bust" on the map.
In Feroza, break the locks on the blue containers and grab the loot. While there are no enemies in the area, players may want to listen closely before opening the crates to avoid an unnecessary confrontation.
Eventually, players will find Boom Boom in one of the crates. He will then become available as an amigo.
Boom Boom's Abilities and Trivia
Boom Boom's skills in Far Cry 6 are more or less the same as his skillset when he was Boomer in Far Cry 5.
-
Pointer: Boom Boom will be able to mark enemies and animals.
- Unlock Requirements: Collect Resources from 10 dead bodies.
-
Expert Tracker: Boom Boom's tagging ability has further reach.
- Unlock requirements: Tag 24 enemies.
-
Thick Coat: Boom Boom's defense will increase and allow him to take more damage.
- Unlock Requirements: Tag 50 enemies.
If players look around in Boom Boom's container, they will see a note detailing how Boom Boom wound up in Yara. Apparently, Far Cry fan-favorite Hurk had Boomer sent from Hope County to Yara as a means of "getting even with the monkey God."
However, some may find this conflicting with Boomer's fate in Far Cry New Dawn. Players could find Boomer's grave as an easter egg to Far Cry 5. It was speculated that Boomer passed from old age in between the events of the last two games.
Other possibilities include Hurk managing to send Boomer to Yara before the events of Far Cry New Dawn, or that the grave is simply an easter egg that has no canonical relation to Far Cry 5's lore.
Far Cry 6 is available now on Amazon Luna, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
