Red Dead Redemption 2 is well known for its complicated, morally grey setting and often depressing storyline, but that hasn't stopped some fans from finding ways to inject a little lightness and humor into the game. One fan recently added a cover of Arthur Morgan singing the English version of "I'm a Gummy Bear" by Gummibär to one of the tense scenes in Red Dead Redemption 2's Horseshoe Overlook chapter, turning an ominous moment into a hilariously awkward one.
In the game, two antagonistic Pinkerton agents--Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross--approach Arthur Morgan while he's out fishing with young Jack Marston. The original version has Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross offer Arthur Morgan a chance to surrender and turn Dutch in exchange for amnesty and threaten him when he refuses.

Things go very differently in Redditor ZOZIX123's version of the scene, which sees Arthur Morgan immediately begin singing about being a gummy bear after the Pinkertons arrive. This not only cuts the pair off before they can make their offer but also punctures all the scene's tension. Most of the 26-second-long video is dedicated to Arthur Morgan singing while the Pinkertons watch with increasing consternation. When the song is finally over, Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross opt to leave without even bringing up the subject of surrender.
Although Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in an alternate history, the addition of "I'm a Gummy Bear" may still strain some fans' suspension of disbelief. The presence of gummy bears themselves could be excused, as the candy was invented in 1922 and Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899. 23 years is still a noticeable gap, but it's much smaller than the gap between 1899 and 2006, when "I'm a Gummy Bear" was originally recorded in German. This adds an extra layer of hilarity to the video--not only is Arthur Morgan singing at two men determined to arrest or kill his gang, he's also singing a song that hasn't been written yet, dedicated to a candy that doesn't yet exist.
As of writing, other Red Dead Redemption 2 fans appear to be quite entertained by the video. Two users immediately replayed the final lines of the video in the comment section. A number of others began jokingly sharing inaccurate and exaggerated statements about the game to try and get more attention to the video. Another user joked that the events of the video were caused by someone going back in time and moving a chair, thus triggering the butterfly effect.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
