The PlayStation 5 version of indie co-op game KeyWe suffers from a bug that makes it virtually impossible to unlock the Platinum trophy.

Indie co-op game KeyWe has a unique premise. In the game, players take on the role of kiwi birds running a post office, typing out messages, sorting mail, and completing various other tasks. It's a quirky co-op experience that should appeal to people that enjoy games like Overcooked, with many critics agreeing that KeyWe is a genuinely fun experience in co-op. Unfortunately, KeyWe on PS5 suffers from a major bug that prevents players from fully completing the game.

To fully unlock all of the cosmetic items, beat all the levels, and unlock the Platinum trophy, KeyWe players have to repeatedly play mini-games called Overtime Shifts. Unfortunately, the Snowball Fight Overtime Shift is broken on the PlayStation 5 version of the game. The bug makes it virtually impossible to earn a gold "Postmaster" rating in KeyWe, which in turn locks players out of unlocking all of the trophies in the game.

In KeyWe, the Snowball Fight Overtime Shift consists of players flinging snowballs at cassowaries using slingshots. The problem with the PS5 version of the game is that the snowballs fire off arbitrarily. Sometimes players can hold R2 for a second and they'll fire, other times they will never fire no matter how long players hold R2. Other times still, snowballs will sail right through cassowaries and not register the hit.

Some PS5 gamers are understandably upset that they can't unlock all of the trophies in KeyWe, and have voiced their concern to the game's developers. KeyWe developer Stonewheat and Sons responded to one such fan on Twitter, acknowledging the PS5 bug and promising that it will be fixed in the next patch that's "being worked on very hard right now." A time table for when PS5 gamers can expect this patch wasn't given, but an announcement will be made once it's ready.

While this bug is unfortunate, KeyWe has otherwise drummed up mostly positive attention so far, earning decent reviews. KeyWe has been favorably compared to Overcooked, and there should still be plenty of fun for co-op minded players with the game, even if the Snowball Fight mini-game is busted at the moment.

Once the next KeyWe patch is out, co-op minded PS5 gamers should be able to fully complete the game with much less difficulty. In the meantime, they can work on getting the highest scores on the other levels in KeyWe, as well as building up enough tickets (the in-game currency) to purchase all of the cosmetic items available in the game.

KeyWe is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch, with Xbox versions also in development.
