While Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone brings some interesting weapons and map changes, fans are not pleased with the removal of Plunder.

While there had been a fair amount of discussion around the latest Season of Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as the game’s future, fans are once again frustrated with the battle royale title. Not only has Call of Duty: Warzone’s long-requested anti-cheat leaked, but an odd playlist change was recently made.

Call of Duty: Warzone playlists are constantly rotating, something that has always been a divisive topic amongst the game’s active player base. Players could be loving a mode one week before seeing it removed just seven days later, having no indication of when it will return. Players could be stuck waiting weeks or months for the playlist they want, though at least fans usually have some version of the core modes available. However, this time around, that has changed.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Plunder mode has been completely removed in Season 6, which is a devastating blow considering that it is the only thing some gamers play. The very first objective-focused mode in Call of Duty: Warzone, Plunder sees players trying to reach $1,000,000 before their opponents. While death is worth avoiding so that cash is not lost, there is no permadeath, making the mode great for players who love large-scale warfare but do not enjoy traditional battle royale gameplay. With extraction zones and AI-controlled helicopters to destroy, the mode’s emphasis on looting makes it fun.

However, despite Plunder being unique and having a loyal fan base, fans of the mode are out of luck for the foreseeable future. Redditor Captain_Price_WZ made a post venting about the mode’s removal, with nearly 300 upvotes and over 100 comments showing that the community supports their argument. The fan makes the great point that the mode is an excellent way to unlock Call of Duty: Warzone’s camos and complete weapon challenges, as players being able to respawn makes the process much easier. Like others, Captain_Price_WZ views Plunder as a “base” game mode, with the fan expecting some version of it to always be available.

As pointed out in the comments, the issue is not with Call of Duty: Warzone’s Payload and Clash modes. Seeing new modes is fine with these members of community, as the objective focus of them is a nice change of pace. However, players do not want to see a classic experience like Plunder taken out of the rotation just so newer modes can take its slot. For many, Plunder is why they love the game, so the decision to remove it is just as devastating as losing Rebirth Island would be for others.

Hopefully, the low-stakes mode returns soon, sticking around for good once it does. However, with Call of Duty: Warzone’s Pacific map right around the corner, the future of Plunder is more unclear than ever before.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
