Since Pokemon Unite launched earlier this year, the development team has been steadily adding new content to the game to keep fans playing the free-to-play MOBA. Several new playable Pokemon have been added recently, such as the popular Fairy-type Eevee-lution, Sylveon, as well as the Water-type Blastoise. However, TiMi Studios and The Pokemon Company have even more content coming, and this time it's a full-blown themed event.
Themed events are pretty common in live service-type games like Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Destiny 2. All of these listed games are currently having a Halloween event of their own, and now folks can add Pokemon Unite to the list.

Pokemon Unite's Halloween Festival is the first event for the free-to-play competitive Pokemon game and will run from October 20th until November 7th. Not only will there be several new costumes for the roster of playable Pokemon, but there will be new outfit options for players that fit in line with the spooky event. Look forward to items such as a pointed witch hat, a pumpkin backpack filled with candy, and a Pikachu Halloween mask. Players can also look forward to new customization options for the Pokemon Unite trainer cards, like new emotes, stickers, and background images.
In the reveal trailer for the Halloween Festival, it was also confirmed that a new Pokemon will be added to the game, and the Pokemon is Greedent. This Normal-type critter is a greedy Pokemon and is relatively new to the Poke-universe as it was first introduced in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield in 2019. It's not the first Pokemon people might associate with Halloween, but having a new Pokemon added to the roster should be exciting nonetheless.
As for the list of Holowear added via the Halloween Festival, here's what's been confirmed so far. Some other Pokemon might be getting new outfits, too, but players will have to wait until the event starts to see everything available for purchase.
- Charizard - Bonfire Style
- Wigglytuff - Pajama Style and a second outfit
- Lucario - Bandit Style
- Zeraora - Unknown Style
- Eldegoss - Space Style
The announcement of the Pokemon Unite Halloween Festival might be just the start of themed events for the new Pokemon MOBA. After reaching millions of players in just a few short months, it makes sense for the game to stay as up-to-date as possible with free content and events to keep the player base intact. Players could potentially see a Christmas-themed event later this year as well, or perhaps a New Years' celebration. Fans will just have to wait and see.
Pokemon Unite is now available for Mobile devices and Switch.
