Like any new MMO, New World has had some growing pains. While the game has been popular thus far, reaching impressive player counts on Steam Charts, there are still some kinks for Amazon Game Studios to work out in the coming months. Recently, the developer put out a call for fans to list their twenty most pressing issues. Of course, fans are now responding with their biggest problems, giving Amazon a better sense of what to focus on.
Over on Reddit, a post containing New World Community Manager NW_Mugsy's call to action has collected some of the community’s biggest requests for features and game refinements. Currently, the “best” comment on the post calls for AGS to make New World's faction war system more meaningful, rather than just having players compete over territory in a single server.

Another issue appears to be New World’s mass reporting system, which has been abused by factions to eliminate key adversaries. The system is automated, banning players from the game upon receiving rapid reports against them regardless of validity. It isn’t an unheard-of system in MMOs and other online multiplayer titles, but it seems to be a point of contention with the general community.

The rest of the recommendations range between combat and UI improvements, mechanical tweaks, and changes to how questing works, which would give players more opportunity to adventure with their friends. Most of these are to be expected, especially for the launch version of an MMO. The positive is that players seem to be focused on the same things, which should make it easier for AGS to prioritize fixes.
However, there’s no real timeline for when fixes will start to roll out, at least not yet. The Reddit post has been live for two days now, but there doesn’t seem to have been any formal acknowledgment on Amazon’s end. Of course, both Reddit and the proper New World forum have been full of responses from players, so there’s little doubt that AGS is seeing the feedback. There’s a good chance that the studio will make a list of tasks based on that feedback in the coming weeks.
For the most part, though, things seem to be going relatively smoothly. New World is sitting at a “mostly positive” rating on Steam right now, with 74% of players recommending the game overall. Once the general quality of life improvements begin to roll out on a larger scale, that rating will likely climb even higher.
New World is available now on PC.
