Out of the nine ghosts in Genshin Impact's Tsurumi Island, Rero is possibly the most mischievous. This is really saying something because there are two child ghosts – Kito and Kina – among the nine. They continuously move from place to place while talking about Grandma Una, another spirit of Tsurumi. The two children can be seen talking about adventures when they were alive, which might explain the constant movement.

Curiously, Rero is one of the spirits that did not appear in the Through the Mists questline. Nevertheless, players need to help him to assist the Boatman. The Boatman quest is a hidden task in Genshin Impact 2.2, and it revolves around the people that passed when the Thunderbird annihilated the people. Apparently, even after millennia, a lot of them are still stuck in the living world.
Rero's Location In Genshin Impact
Rero can be found northeast of Mt. Kanna. Players can find him near Kito and Kina's second location. He's standing near a tree, on higher ground compared to Kito and Kina's spot.
When speaking to Rero, the ghost will start talking about how tragic his life was. From the moment he was born, he had caused a lot of grief. Not just for himself, but the people around him. Even when his wife passed away, Rero accidentally dropped a golden ring into the grave.
How To Help Rero In Genshin Impact
Therefore, Rero will ask players to dig his wife's grave. The tomb is located in Chirai Shrine, on the east of the ruin. There, travelers will find a tree with a prompt to dig. However, when pressing dig, nothing happens.
Instead, Thunderhelm Lawachurl will spawn nearby. Players have to defeat this monster for the hidden quest to proceed.
After defeating the enemy, Rero will appear and start laughing at the traveler because his prank was successful.
The spirit says that when he and his wife were alive, they used to play pranks on each other. But suddenly, his wife got sick and died. Before she passed, the wife asked Rero to trick someone in front of her grave. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to move on.
Since his job is done, Rero decides to join the Boatman and leave the Sea of Fog. Players are rewarded with 30 Primogems, 20000 Mora, and two Hero's Wits for the trouble.
To assist the Boatman, travelers have to help nine ghosts in total. Most of the ghosts reward 30 Primogems, although there are some exceptions. For example, Chise's quest yields 40 Primogems, whereas Nonno's yields 20 Primogems.
Chirai Shrine appears to be the center of the spirits, where players can see many of them around the area. Unfortunately, travelers can't help all of them.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
