Ubisoft intends to provide Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with post-launch content longer than it did for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

One of the biggest challenges for some mainstream video games is to provide satisfactory post-launch content for players to enjoy. Now it seems Ubisoft will do just that with Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Game Producer Julien Laferriére previously mentioned there were already plans for Assassin's Creed Valhalla post-launch content back in December, and now players start seeing some of it soon.

Ubisoft's latest earnings call revealed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla was a major success for the company in terms of unit sales. It was mentioned in the call how Valhalla was the biggest launch for the franchise and the company intends to capitalize on the momentum the game has garnered. Ubisoft intends to accomplish this by providing the game a "stronger and longer post-launch programme" than what Assassin's Creed: Odyssey had.

Now, Ubisoft isn't talking about providing updates or patches to fix Valhalla bugs, rather it will be adding new content to the game. There were similar post-launch DLC plans for Odyssey, which had its veritable share of content, especially story-related content and expansions. That includes DLC like The Lost Tales of Greece DLC episodes and its two major paid expansions, Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis. According to the earnings call, Valhalla will have a longer post-launch roadmap of content than Odyssey had.

Valhalla already has its share of story DLC expansions coming out, like the Wrath of the Druids and the Siege of Paris. Wrath of the Druids is launching this spring and will take players to Ireland, where they will experience new gameplay and face an ancient druid cult, the Children of Danu. While players will travel to Francia in the Siege of Paris early this summer and attempt to conquer Paris itself. On top of these two-story expansions, Ubisoft will be adding more content to the game afterward.

It makes sense why Ubisoft is putting so much behind the game right now. The earnings call revealed that Valhalla had the biggest launch in the franchise and highlighted how profitable it was to Ubisoft. According to Ubisoft's Frederick Duguet, Valhalla was one of the biggest launches in the Assassin's Creed franchise and it was even the "second best-selling title" for the next-generation consoles. It comes up right behind the launch of Assassin's Creed 3, with Valhalla making a big impact for the game franchise in terms of value.

With the upcoming story expansions and other DLC, players can look forward to Valhalla receiving even more post-launch game content.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
