With Destiny 2 being a looter shooter, every piece of gear counts when it comes to gameplay, be it in PvE or PvP. Armor hasn't always been a crucial aspect of the game, however, and it only really started to shine again once Bungie introduced the Armor 2.0 update in Shadowkeep, making each piece of armor all the more valuable to Destiny 2 players. However, this came at the cost of "fashion," so to speak, as players would often have to use armor they didn't really like over other pieces because it was better.
