Founded in 1992 by comic book industry veterans looking for more control over their creations, Image Comics quickly became a hotbed for creativity. While the likes of DC and Marvel only offered minor compensation for creating a character, Image Comics allowed the original creator to own the rights to their characters, with no external partner able to mess around with the creative direction of the comic.
