After launching on January 28, Pokemon Legends: Arceus received acclaim from critics and quickly sold over 6.5 million copies. Pokemon Legends: Arceus was praised for its open world-style gameplay and its bold decision to move away from the standard series formula of battling Gym Leaders to become the Pokemon League champion, instead focusing on research and discovery.
