The newest event in Pokemon GO has plenty of parts to it where players can work toward various goals in order to earn rewards. Like with many other events, this includes special event-exclusive field research tasks that players can pick up from Pokestops.
When collecting field research tasks, Pokemon GO players should note that they are for players that have bought a ticket for the event. This means that players participating for free will not be able to take on these tasks, but they can still work on the timed research tasks.

The majority of the field research tasks will give players large amounts of specific Pokemon candy for different Pokemon unrelated to the task. Only two tasks meanwhile will provide players with an encounter with a specific wild Pokemon.
There are thirteen total possible field research tasks that players can get during the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto event. Each can only be received by spinning a Pokestop disk with there being at least one open slot for a field research task. Players cannot get more than one field research task from a single Pokestop within one day.
After spinning a disk, players can get:
- Catch Bellsprout - 20 Oddish Candy
- Catch Meowth - 20 Mankey Candy
- Catch Sandshrew - 20 Ekans Candy
- Catch Vulpix - 20 Growlithe Candy
- Catch Ekans - 20 Sandshrew Candy
- Catch Growlithe - 20 Vulpix Candy
- Catch Mankey - 20 Meowth Candy
- Catch Oddish - 20 Bellsprout Candy
- Hatch an Egg - TBA
- Hatch three Eggs - Snorlax encounter
- Defeat a GO Tour Challenger - 500 Stardust and 1,000 XP
- Defeat GO Tour Challengers - TBA
- Catch ten Pokemon - Tangela encounter
All of the specific catching tasks refer to Pokemon that are exclusive to incense encounters during this event. This could mean that the first four field research tasks could be exclusive to players that have bought the Green Ticket for the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto event while the following four are exclusive to those who bought the Red Ticket. Either way, due to these Pokemon being incense exclusive, this means that players will need to use an incense in order to encounter and catch these Pokemon.
For those who are participating in the various Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto Collection Challenges, these field research tasks will become very important. This is due to the Research Collection Challenge requiring specific Pokemon from research task reward encounters in order to complete it. Two of these Pokemon are Snorlax and Tangela, which are both encounter rewards with two of the field research tasks.
Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
