Backwards compatibility is the PS5's greatest selling point. These single-player PS4 experiences are definitely worth checking out on the console.

The PlayStation 4 was recognized for its abundance of story-intensive games, and fans expect nothing less on the console's successor. While the PlayStation 5 has introduced features like haptic feedback and 3D audio, the performance and visual fidelity excel in a whole new light.

The PlayStation 5 is selling out everywhere partially due to its backwards compatibility. The console can play PlayStation 4 games, sometimes with enhanced graphics. The PlayStation 5 introduces terms like ray tracing that make a huge difference in the gaming experience. Only a handful of PlayStation 4 games improve when booted on a PlayStation 5. Which single-player adventures are worth playing the most on the next-gen console?

10 Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The latest Assassin's Creed game is widely available on most current-gen and last-gen platforms. The game comes with a free PlayStation 5 upgrade, meaning you won't need to make a second purchase. Saves can carryover using a Ubisoft Connect account, but the trophies do not. Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes place during the Viking era's invasion of Britain. It has one of the most immersive open-worlds to date, which is playable on PlayStation 5.

9 Hitman 3

IO Interactive's latest Hitman game is a statement that they are a leading developer. The game doesn't offer a multiplayer mode, but the single-player mode is detailed enough to let it slide. Hitman 3 follows Agent 47, the antihero and protagonist of the series.

Purchasing Hitman 3 on PlayStation 4 comes with a free PlayStation 5 upgrade. The window for a PlayStation 5 upgrade with ray tracing support hasn't been confirmed, but it's rumored to happen sometime in the near future.

8 Dirt 5

To play the PlayStation 5 version of Dirt 5, one can purchase the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version. Codemasters' Dirt 5 offers a free upgrade for players who purchased either version. It's worth noting that players who buy the game on a disc will not be able to upgrade on an all-digital PlayStation 5. However, it's possible to get a free copy of Dirt 5 regardless of your PlayStation 5 system type by owning the digital version. This game can play in 120 frames per second on PlayStation 5.

7 Nioh 2 Remastered

Developer Team Ninja's Nioh 2 came back with more enemy variety and more in-depth boss fights. This game was an instant hit with Souls-like fans and fans of Team Ninja's previously released games. Although the game contains a robust cooperative mode, it won't prevent hardcore players from soloing. Nioh 2 offers an arduous experience with an irksome loot system but exceptional combat. Nioh 2 Remastered plays in 120 frames per second on PlayStation 5 with televisions or monitors that support the frame rate.

6 Bugsnax

If you managed to secure a digital copy of Bugsnax via PS Plus's free games lineup, then you may have experienced this unique game. It was only free for PlayStation 5 owners, but PSN members could have secured a copy of Bugsnax for PlayStation 5, even if they didn't own one. It's a first-person adventure game that becomes more interesting the deeper you delve into it. Bugsnax is a whimsical game that plays on PlayStation 4 but even better on PlayStation 5.

5 Control: Ultimate Edition

Remedy Entertainment's Control: Ultimate Edition is a package worth playing on the PlayStation 5. It contains all the expansions and the single-player adventure that we fell in love with on the PlayStation 4. Control: Ultimate Edition comes with ray-tracing support or the option for steadier frame rates. At 60 frames per second, the Performance Mode has more fluid gameplay. There is also an option for a Graphics Mode, which improves visual fidelity locked at 30 frames per second.

4 Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

The Crash Bandicoot series is anything but dormant. A remake of the original trilogy and another sequel have been released. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time's name pokes fun at the sequel being long overdue. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel, and although it wasn't developed by Naughty Dog, the new game pays homage to the originals. There was a wide margin for error, but developer Toys for Bob has impressive execution. Wait until March to find Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time on PlayStation 5.

3 Ghost Of Tsushima

While many were anticipating Ghost of Tsushima to be another Souls-like, it's actually more along with the lines of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game follows Jin Sakai, a person who struggles to discover his identity. Walking the path of both a samurai and a ghost, Jin finds conflict between himself and his family.

Playing Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation 5 feels like a new game. It offers a performance mode that offers up to 60 frames per second and a 4K resolution option. From a visual design perspective, Ghost of Tsushima is an impressive achievement playable on PlayStation 5.

2 God Of War

A recent PlayStation 5 update added 60 per second frame rate performance and an option that favors resolution. God of War was one of the most breathtaking games on the PlayStation 4, and it only looks better on PlayStation 5.

The series has gone a step further into story depth with God of War (2018). What began delving into Greek mythology later became a blend of Greek and Norse mythology. There's no telling where it will head next, yet we have this incredible game to replay on the PlayStation 5.

1 Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

See the game like never before in 4K and HDR. Ray tracing, lighting effects, and character detail are made even better on the PlayStation 5 version of this offline game. There is also an option for a steady 60 frames per second on its performance mode. For the ultimate test of what a PlayStation 5 can output, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a must-play!
