Status conditions have been present in the Pokemon series since the beginning, with few changes to the formula. However, the newest Pokemon game drastically altered age-old series mechanics, and the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will serve as the first fully open-world games. Seemingly many features are changed in Scarlet and Violet, and status conditions should get the same treatment.
