A new trailer for the multiplayer heist game Hood: Outlaws and Legends is out and showcases the Ranger. Focus Home Interactive goes into detail for one of the available classes in the upcoming title Hood: Outlaws and Legends.
The game is a player-verse-player-verse-environment experience, or PvPvE. This means that while two groups of four will be competing to finish the heist and claim a reward, there are AI enemies lying in wait as well. Fans will be taking on specific class roles, and the trailer gives a look into the Ranger's kit and playstyle.

Focus Home Interactive describes how the inspiration for this character is the famous hero Robin Hood. Clad in a hood and light armor, the Ranger utilizes a longbow to hit targets from afar. Since the game is competitive, this means getting headshots on enemies before they even realize they are in sight. The video points out that players will need to learn the ins and outs of the longbow to protect their allies and take out opposing classes to win games. It also doubles as a way to create shortcuts in a map like shooting down ropes to scale high walls.
Aside from the main weapon, the Ranger also has abilities to subvert danger and control the situation. Similar to Ezio in Assassin's Creed, the Ranger can hide and use its special ability, Scout, to tag patrolling targets. By highlighting enemies, getting through areas with a lot of guards will be much easier. The class also has an Evade and Flash grenade to stay safe in combat or make a quick escape.
Finally, the ultimate ability Farsight allows players to shoot an incendiary arrow that can explode causing damage to multiple enemies. Focus Home Interactive also gives a tease as perks that can alter how these features work, but commits to showing more at a later date.
The core concept for the game does seem to be shaking things up. PvPvE is not the most common multiplayer format, so the fast-paced gameplay in Hood: Outlaws and Legends should be unique. Most multiplayer titles include a sniper of some sort, and it looks like the tradition is continuing here. Players looking forward to the medieval heist game will likely be excited to pick off targets with headshots from the shadows.
On the other hand, some may not find the Ranger's kit to be that impressive. Abilities like Evade and a Flash grenade are not particularly original, even if they serve a useful purpose in this scenario. Focus Home Interactive asserts that the class is a twist on Robin Hood, but there does not really seem to be much that is reminiscent of the character either. In any case, the class looks well designed and shows that Hood: Outlaws and Legends has a lot of potential.
