Leading up to the release of MLB The Show 21, developer Sony San Diego has been releasing trailers featuring cover athlete Fernando Tatis Jr. and The Show mascot "The Coach" as puppets, detailing new modes, features, and looks at the upcoming title. The latest trailer details new features that will only be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game.
After announcing that MLB The Show 21 will be available for the first time on Xbox platforms, players on both PlayStation and Xbox are in for a treat, as the title will allow for cross-platform play, cross-saves, and online multiplayer between PlayStation and Xbox players. The title will also feature a number of impressive features for next-gen consoles, utilizing many of the capabilities of both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

One of the features that will be available on PlayStation 5 is 3D audio. While only available on compatible headphones, the 3D audio capabilities of the PlayStation 5 will allow players to feel like they are on the field with the cracking sounds of the bat and the cheers of the crowd all around them. The PlayStation 5 version will also feature DualSense support, giving players haptic feedback in the controller and also utilizing the adaptive triggers.
Playing on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X will also grant players up to 60 FPS, making MLB The Show 21 look smooth with every swing, pitch, and fielding. Next-gen versions of the title will also have an exclusive mode, with Stadium Creator finally coming to MLB The Show. Based on the trailer, players may be able to customize various aspects of the created stadium including fences, Jumbotrons, seating, and lighting fixtures. Although not many details were shared about the new mode, hopefully, players will be able to create the stadium of their dreams down to the last detail.
MLB The Show 21 will also feature a few new game modes for every version of the game including an updated Franchise mode, and a new March to October game mode that will allow players to skip through moments of the season in order to play out the postseason games to secure a championship.
Along with the Franchise and March to October modes, the Diamond Dynasty game mode will allow players to collect player cards to use in lineups of their dream teams. Unlike the EA sports titles with Ultimate Team, MLB The Show 21 players can earn player cards through regular gameplay across many modes.
MLB The Show 21 will release April 20 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
