Unlike some other popular PS4 titles such as Ghost Of Tsushima and Days Gone, Death Stranding hasn't received a full-blown next-gen patch yet. Fans have been anticipating a PS5 update to Hideo Kojima's latest that could boost the game's FPS and add DualSense support for quite some time now. Unfortunately, no such announcement has surfaced yet, and fans are getting anxious.
Early rumors suggested that an extended edition for Death Stranding is in the works. However, Kojima Productions and Sony have yet to hint at such a possibility. Interestingly, notable leaker Navtra, has once again suggested that an announcement for this rumored extended edition is coming soon.

Leaker Navtra, who has accurately predicted information regarding various Square Enix titles in the past such as, Marvel's Avengers' Spider-Man DLC, was the first to suggest that a Death Stranding extended edition is in works. As a month passed by without any announcement of any kind, a fan decided to ask Navtra, over at Resetera, about the status of this extended edition. On being asked, Navtra said that Death Stranding extended edition "has been ready and done for a while now." and that they expected an announcement at Sony's recent State of Play event.
Furthermore, Navtra retaliated that an official reveal could take as long as a month. While there's no concrete information on what this extended edition would bring to Death Stranding, Navtra had said earlier that it would add more paid story content. Death Stranding could very well take the same approach as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which recently laid its plan for a PS5 version. Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS5 costs $70, which comes bundled with the base game, quality of life next-gen features, and a brand new episode featuring Yuffie.
Kojima Productions is currently hard at work on their next title. Recent rumors suggested that Kojima was working on an episodic horror game for Google Stadia, which unfortunately never saw the day of light. Although Death Stranding 2 is still far from being real, Kojima has shared the possibility of more Strand games in the future.
If this rumored extended edition ends up adding a new story DLC to the game, it could indicate that the company is not done with this universe yet. Earlier last year, Kojima accidentally teased what some thought was new Death Stranding content. Given how early Death Stranding got announced, it's possible that the studio's next-game announcement isn't that far.
Death Stranding is now available on the PC and PS4.
