Back during the 2020 Game Awards, indie studio ZA/UM announced Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, a free extended version and director's cut of Disco Elysium. But with no recent news and the release soon coming, fans have been worried that the game would be delayed. However, ZA/UM has reassured buyers that the game is still definitely still coming in March.
According to ZA/UM, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is the version of Disco Elysium that was planned from the get-go. Still, the original game quickly became a hit in 2019 following its release. Disco Elysium isn't like normal RPGs with combat and bosses, but rather features an amnesiac detective in a sort of politically-driven murder mystery. It was even written by a novelist named Robert Kurvitz who published fiction before going on to found ZA/UM. While unconventional, this method proved to be a hit with Disco Elysium, which was later named Game of the Year by several publications and won numerous awards.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut amplifies everything that makes Disco Elysium a great game by offering the player more freedom, new storylines, characters, and cutscenes, and even full voice acting for the entirety of the game, adding up to 1.2 million words. With such a strong foundation, fans are certainly getting excited about the new features that will help bring the capital city to life.
But ZA/UM has been somewhat quiet in regards to the upcoming director's cut of Disco Elysium, worrying some fans and causing some negative speculation. But on the Disco Elysium Discord, one of the developers under the name of "Mikk" reassured fans that the game is still set for its release date later this month. He explains in a short message that it takes some time to get the new features to cooperate with the old ones players have grown to love and ensure the game plays in the way ZA/UM had planned.
While there is no exact release date planned for Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, it's due out in the next 26 days. It's quite possible the developers will surprise launch the extended version considering how popular it already is.
In The Final Cut, Disco Elysium fans can expect the new version to expand the map with an entirely new area of town, but in terms of graphics, PS5 versions will run Disco Elysium: The Final Cut at 4K with 60 FPS. While that may not be the main draw of the game, it's sure to support all the new quests, dialogues, and never-before-seen district of Revachol.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will come out in March 2021 for PC, PS4, and PS5, and in summer 2021 for Switch and Xbox Series X/S.
