Zack Snyder's Justice League will restore Darkseid to the DCEU film and McFarlane Toys has a new figure of the villainous New God.

Good news for fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League who also love collecting high-quality superhero figures. McFarlane Toys has officially released an image of their upcoming Darkseid figure, accurate to the portrayal of the character in the upcoming re-release of Justice League.

In the comics, Darkseid is the ruler of the inferno planet Apokolips and a longtime foe of the Justice League. Darkseid is pure hatred personified, ruling over his homeworld as a merciless tyrant, demanding unwavering devotion from all his subjects. First appearing in a small role in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134, Darkseid has gone on to prove himself to be a formidable antagonist for the heroes of the DC comics universe.

When it was announced that Snyder was pursuing a Justice League movie, fans were hopeful that they would get to see the legendary Darkseid on the big screen. However, Snyder was forced to step away from Justice League in 2017 and was replaced by the ever-controversial Joss Whedon. As a result, Darkseid did not appear in Whedon’s theatrical release and was only hinted at through his lackey Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds). However, fans can now rejoice, as it is clear that Darkseid will appear in the upcoming four-hour Snyder cut of Justice League. The extraterrestrial tyrant, who has now appeared in several teasers and trailers, is being portrayed through motion capture and voice-over work by actor Ray Porter.

Snyder has been laying the groundwork for Darkseid to show up in his DCEU films since Batman v Superman. In that film, Batman (Ben Affleck) has a now-infamous premonition of a dark future that sees an evil Superman ruling the world with an iron fist. In that ‘dream’ sequence, Batman and his insurgency are swarmed by winged monsters right before he is captured. The appearance of these flying creatures left some viewers confused, but fans of the comics would recognize them as Parademons, the demonic soldiers of Darkseid who hail from the planet Apokolips.

McFarlane Toys is one of the largest toy companies in the United States, and they are known for making highly detailed figurines for movies, comics, TV shows, and video games. The company bears the name of its founder Todd McFarlane, a Canadian comic book artist and writer who is best known for creating the superhero horror-fantasy comic series Spawn. In 2019, McFarlane Toys secured the exclusive rights to create collectible figures for DC comic books, movies, cartoons, live-action TV shows, and video games, all under the title ‘DC Multiverse’.

You can watch  Zack Snyder’s Justice League when it premieres on HBO Max on March 18th, 2021.
