WandaVision may be over, but the finale dropped two big post-credit scenes teasing what's to come.

As fans react to the finale of WandaVision, the first MCU series has come to a close. While a lot of the fan theories surrounding the story ended up going nowhere, many agree that WandaVision was bold, thrilling, and unlike anything the MCU had done up until that point. However, the show managed to keep one MCU tradition alive by treating fans with two post-credit scenes at the end of the finale. And unlike some post-credit scenes, these ones teased very significant storylines for the future that are certainly worth exploring in further detail.

Fans first met Monica Rambeau as the plucky young daughter of Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel. Monica was reintroduced in WandaVision decades after the events of Captain Marvel where she followed her mother's footsteps and joined the space exploration organization S.W.O.R.D. WandaVision established Monica as a brave ally for Wanda as well as set up her own superhero origins. After being exposed to the Hex a few too many times, Monica develops her own powers leading to her becoming Photon. Now armed with these new abilities, Monica is ready for her next mission.

The first post-credit scene takes place in the aftermath of Wanda leaving Westview. As Agent Woo cleans up the situation, an FBI agent tells Monica she is wanted in the local movie theater. Inside the theater, the agent reveals herself to be a Skrull, the shapeshifting aliens Monica met in Captain Marvel. She tells Monica she was sent by an old friend of her mother who would like to meet with her. When Monica asks where the meeting will take place, the Skrull simply points up.

This sets up a few interesting things for the future. The initial reaction might be that Monica will be reunited with her childhood hero Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, especially considering her ties to the Skrulls. However, since the Skrull said "he" would like to see you, it is most likely Nick Fury. Fury also became an ally of the Skrulls in Captain Marvel and the post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home showed he is still working with them, even sending some to Earth of missions.

The Far From Home post-credit scene also revealed Fury is now operating from space and it looks like he is recruiting Monica to join him. This seems to put Monica in a good position to meet up with Carol in space and join her adventures in Captain Marvel 2. However, the fact that Fury is working with the Skrulls could also be hinting at the upcoming Secret Invasion series that will explore a rogue group of Skrulls infiltrating Earth.

As the series began, it seemed as though Wanda had the perfect life with Vision which eventually went on to include their two sons, Tommy and Billy. But fans knew not to aspect a happy ending to this story. Eventually, Wanda had to let the illusion of Westview go and say goodbye to her happy family. The scene of her tucking her sons in bed knowing it will be the last she sees of them is a heartbreaking moment. But it seems as though Wanda is not willing to give up on them so easily.

After dismantling Westview, Wanda leaves to be on her own. The final post-credit scene finds her living in a remote cabin in the middle of an isolated wilderness. It seems like a good place for her to recoup and deal with her grief. However, once Wanda goes inside the cabin, she is revealed to be hard at work, reading through the Book of the Damned that Agatha Harkness revealed to her. With her eyes glowing red, Wanda hears the faint voices of her sons calling out to her.

When WandaVision was officially announced, it was confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen would also be returning as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel boss Kevin Feige also teased that WandaVision would tie directly into the Doctor Strange sequel. This got many fans anticipating a cameo from the Sorcerer Supreme himself. While that obviously didn't happen, this post-credit scene certainly does feel like a setup for Doctor Strange 2.

As the title suggests, the multiverse will be playing a big role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (a storyline set to continue into Spider-Man: No Way Home). One popular theory was that Wanda will be responsible for opening the multiverse and Strange will have to fix the damage. The post-credit scene certainly implies that she will in fact open the multiverse in an attempt to reunite with her sons.

Overall, WandaVision felt like the perfect way of kickstarting Phase 4 of the MCU. It helped to introduce the kinds of stories the Disney+ shows will be able to tackle while also setting up the future. While it is said to see the show go so soon, these post-credit scenes serve as a nice reminder that there is still plenty of more from the MCU on the way.

All episodes of WandaVision are currently available on Disney+.
