Many fans have been eagerly awaiting what will come next in Call of Duty: Warzone. The Call of Duty battle royale first launched on March 10, 2021, and there have been rumors that the map Verndansk will leave Warzone. New information seems to add fuel to the fire for those rumors.
The idea that Verndansk will go away is not new, as there were leaks and rumors of a new map for Warzone even in May of last year, just two months after the shooter had launched. But now that the game has settled in for so long, the timing seems right, especially wrapped around the zombies infection within the game.

Twitter user @_Tom_Henderson_ is reporting that the Warzone team is planning for Verdansk to be nuked and for it to never return. The nuke idea is not new, but the "never return" idea may not be. Henderson believes that there will be some sort of time machine tying into the new map. Perhaps it will be based in the 80s, which is around the timeframe for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Most theories have Verdansk being nuked due to Warzone being overrun by Zombies. There have been ideas of the map being blown to bits in the past, but none of them have seemed concrete. This time, however, it would seem legitimate that Verdansk would be so overwhelmed by the undead that the map would need to be nuked to destroy to brain-eating creatures and those who wanted to survive would perhaps jump into a time machine to travel to a new map and keep on duking it out together.
Henderson's comments should be taken with a grain of salt for now. He does separate his speculation from what he is claiming is factual. His speculation is that Verdansk will eventually return, but he is claiming that the map will be gone from the playlist and replaced with something else. Right now, this should all be considered unconfirmed, but Henderson has been suspended on Twitter in the past on other accounts, which is often done when someone finds ways to leak out legitamite information for games like Call of Duty: Warzone.
It is interesting to see zombies have such a strong impact on the battle royale. The zombies community has always been a strong one in Call of Duty, but also somewhat seperate from the other experiences. Zombies can be creepy and odd, so it would make all the sense in the world if the reason that Call of Duty: Warzone saw a massive shake-up was thanks to the undead monsters getting into the mix.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
