Next week, Bloober Team will be officially launching The Medium, an Xbox Series X console exclusive horror game that serves as one of the studio's most ambitious projects to date. With just a little over a week to go until The Medium's release date, developer Bloober Team has released another video as part of its Premonition series that gives fans some deeper insight into the game and what they can expect from it come January 28.
In this latest video for The Medium, Bloober Team goes into detail about protagonist Marianne's psychic abilities as a "medium" and how they tie into the gameplay. As seen in the video, Marianne will be able to use her medium abilities to point out important objects in the environment, which will help solve puzzles. She will also be able to tune in to certain objects to see "Echoes," which are essentially moments from the past that Marianne can witness.

The Medium's dual-reality gameplay is also possible thanks to Marianne's medium abilities, as they allow her to explore the spiritual world. While using these abilities, Marianne will sometimes be able to interact with "souls frozen in time," which will allow her to get clues to help her progress or offer players more context about what exactly is going on in the story.
Marianne will also have the opportunity to interact with lost souls that are not frozen in time, which is something that's been seen in some of The Medium's previous trailers. One of Marianne's main goals will be to communicate with these spirits and figure out how to help them so that they can move on to the afterlife. It seems solving puzzles and finding important items will be key in helping these lost souls make peace with their "unfinished business" and pass on, but The Maw will be trying to impede Marianne's progress.
The Maw is the main villain in The Medium, voiced by veteran video game voice actor Troy Baker. This latest Medium Premonition video cuts off as soon as Marianne starts to get harassed by some kind of evil presence, which is presumably The Maw in action (though it could be something else entirely). It seems as though The Medium players will have to check the game out next week if they want to see what happens next.
The Medium is an Xbox Series X console exclusive, so some players will be missing out. But on the bright side, The Medium will be available for Xbox Game Pass on day one, so those curious can try the game without committing to paying full price. They'll just need a powerful enough PC or a next-generation Xbox console to run it.
The Medium launches January 28 for PC and Xbox Series X.
