Steven Sharif, the Creative Director for upcoming MMO Ashes of Creation, shares an update on the game's Alpha One playtest schedule and NDA status.

One of the biggest and most consistent game genres is the MMORPG, and players are currently able to choose from multiple options like The Elder Scrolls Online, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, and many more. Fans often also look forward to the several MMOs in development, like the highly-anticipated Ashes of Creation. The game's creative director, Steven Sharif, has shared some changes in the game's development schedule.

Intrepid Studios' Ashes of Creation is a promising new MMO which really puts players in control of the world. The game features a unique node system, where players will have the opportunity to build and destroy civilizations across the high-fantasy world of Verra.

In a letter to the Ashes of Creation community, Steven Sharif revealed that Intrepid Studios is pushing back the Alpha One schedule for the game. The Alpha One preview was originally planned to open this month, and the full Alpha One was planned to launch in April. Now, the schedule is planning for the preview to occur in May, and the Alpha One to open in June. Sharif said the team encountered several issues during the game's previous testing in February which require correction before more players can partake in playtests.

Unfortunately, the change in schedule also means an extension on Ashes of Creation's NDA. While the NDA was supposed to be lifted this month, gamers will have to wait until the middle of May to hear players' opinions and thoughts about the newest MMO on the block.

While there will certainly be many players disappointed with yet another delay, many will also understand that it's for the best. Sharif says that Intrepid Studios is "committed to excellence for Ashes of Creation, and honestly, this is the purpose of these Alphas and Betas - to discover issues and address them as early as possible." At this rate, it is still possible that players could see Ashes of Creation have a closed beta by the end of the year. When the game inevitably launches in 2022 or 2023, it will be up against some stiff competition, like the popular multi-platform The Elder Scrolls Online.
