In the most recent Destiny 2 update which also fixed the 12 player raid glitch, Bungie also added support for a unique PlayStation 5 feature.

With the launch of next gen consoles late in 2020, many current generation games including Destiny 2 have added support for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Thankfully for those who purchased the game already, most companies offer the upgrades completely for free including Bungie. The update itself came about a month after the launch of the expansion Beyond Light, but for next gen owners, they got to experience some fairly big upgrades.

After December 8, 2020, Destiny 2 players on the PlayStation 5 and both Xbox Series consoles got a boost resolution and the framerate which was set to 60FPS. Load times also drastically improved, the field of view slider became available, and next gen owners could play with old gen players. In addition, Crucible players saw a major enhancement when Xbox head Phil Spencer and Bungie CEO Pete Parsons revealed that next gen console players would see the popular activity run at 120 FPS.

While the next gen upgrades arrived a few months ago, it apparently wasn't the end as Bungie's latest update also added a unique feature for PS5 players. When accessing the Control Center from pressing the PS button on the DualSense, Destiny 2 now has its own set of Activity Cards. For now, the cards themselves appear to only have limited functionality unlike some other PS5 titles, but its possible Bungie plans on expanding them at a later date.

While Bungie doesn't go into specifics inside of the patch notes, Reddit users have managed to take away some of the mystery to how these cards work. After launching Destiny 2 and sitting at the title screen, players can use the quick access activity cards to be taken to The Tower or Europa. Essentially, selecting either card will bring up the character select screen and then take the player to either destination. Essentially, these cards will save players a few button presses, but outside of that, the Activity Cards don't appear to be a major update as of now.

When the PlayStation 5 UI was revealed last year, one of the major features Sony showed off was the Control Center and the idea of Activity Cards. Customized for the game currently being played, these cards would be able to display all sorts of information like trophy progress, gameplay opportunities, and stats. In some cases, players could access help to gain hints, guides, and other tips. Some games, like Destiny 2, would be able to launch the player into specific parts of the game as well.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X
