DLC has slowly become a much more dominant part of the industry, with this style of post-launch support developing into season passes, microtransactions, skins, and more. Some games rely on post-launch support more than others, which makes sense when games are free-to-play, but others continue to expand them with iconic additions. It goes a long way in keeping a game alive when, for example, fans know to expect Deadpool, Morbius, Storm, and Venom DLC in Marvel's Midnight Suns next year. But the same could be said of several games coming into this year too.
