Despite its troubled beginnings, Fallout 76 has maintained a fanbase for a while now, and Bethesda has continued to support the game with post-launch content. While some players wonder if Fallout 76 is worth playing in 2021, there are still players who continue to play and support the game well after release.
A recent tweet revealed the content roadmap for Fallout 76, showing what players have to look forward to this year. The tweet showed four seasons that will be providing their share of new content to the game, each with brief descriptions. The last season teases aliens showing up in Fallout 76 on top of the other new content being added to the game.

The new season of Fallout 76 will release in the winter, and it seems aliens will play a large part in the story and gameplay. The synopsis reads, "Star have aligned in the Wasteland. Marvel at the discovery of new legends and the reappearance of an Appalachian myth." The season will also provide 4 Star Legendaries, a seasonal event called "The Ritual," and will feature Invaders From Beyond as a public challenge with Daily OPS surprises. It will also be adding C.A.M.P. pets to the game in season 7.
This wouldn't be the first time that the Fallout franchise featured aliens in the games. They've made appearances in some capacity in nearly all of the Fallout games. Most notably, aliens appeared in Fallout 3's DLC add-on Mothership Zeta, where players could fight with alien abductors. The aliens in the game were styled similar to the archetypal Grey aliens in UFO-related alien abductions. The aliens even appeared in Fallout 4, though, only briefly.
The same alien species made appearances in Fallout 76 as part of a couple of quests that took place in Appalachia, one of which involved Fallout 76's Flatwoods Monster. Based on the content roadmap, it appears the aliens will be returning to Earth for unknown purposes, but will likely be hostile, especially since the Steel Dawn update secretly showed aliens had been captured and experimented on by the Appalachian Enclave. Tales From The Stars could be picking up that narrative thread. The rest of the roadmap provides previews for the seasons before season 7.
Season 4, which kicks off the roadmap, launches in the Spring and will let players upgrade their C.A.M.P., their character, and their weapons in new ways. Season 5 will launch in the summer and will spotlight the Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel storyline with new quests, NPCs, locations, and rewards. Season 6 will launch in the Fall, which only says, "Stay tuned later this year for the next evolution of private worlds." For now, the only thing listed to arrive in the game alongside Season 6 is the Daily OPS Expansion 2. Overall, Fallout 76 players can look forward to new content in 2021.
Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
