WarnerMedia's CEO has shut down the rumors of a David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad, and confirmed there are no future SnyderVerse plans.

Now that Zack Snyder's Justice League is finally out, fans are celebrating that the director was allowed to restore his original vision for the film in all its glory. While many are simply happy that Snyder was allowed to release the movie as he originally wanted to, some have taken this successful release as a sign that perhaps DC might actually return to Snyder's version of the DC film universe, instead of rebooting the franchise as they had suggested.

Not only that, but some fans have asked for similar director's cuts of films like David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and in the runup to release even managed to get #RestoretheSnyderVerse trending on social media. Regardless of the rocky start the DC Cinematic Universe has had, it's clear that a lot of people love Snyder's vision, and want to double down.

It seems as though those fans are going to be disappointed, however, as both Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. have confirmed multiple times that Zack Snyder's Justice League will be the director's last project as part of the DC Universe, at least for the time being. While some may have hoped that there is still a chance for another project like the David Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad, those hopes have been dashed as well by WarnerMedia's CEO.

While Ayer was in a very similar position to Snyder, having publicly criticized the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad and bemoaning studio meddling, WarnerMedia CEO Ann Sarnoff shut down any kind of rumors about a second chance for the project. When asked point blank about the chances of an "Ayer Cut" for the film after the Snyder Cut's unexpected success and popularity, Sarnoff responded bluntly: “We won’t be developing David Ayer’s cut.”

On a similar tack, when discussing the possibility of restoring the SnyderVerse, Sarnoff also shut the idea down: "We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now.” It seems that Zack Snyder's Justice League, while a fun little experiment and nice gesture to the creative mind behind the early DC film universe, was never intended to be the future of the DC brand.

So that's that; it seems that WarnerMedia is sticking to it's guns on the reboot of the DC film universe, and they aren't going to spend any more time looking back or trying to fiddle with old films after Justice League. Hopefully their new wave of film projects manages to find their own voice as they work out the future of the DC universe.
