The indie survival game Rain World has been steadily developing a small, tight-knit fan base. Released back in 2017, this seemingly mundane open-world 2D platformer drew attention thanks to its stellar presentation that merged cute, creepy, and melancholic vibes, complex AI, and well-implemented physics. Adding on a surprisingly large amount of lore tucked away in the game's furthest reaches, there was a little something in Rain World for everyone. The only deciding factor was whether a player was willing to stick with the game through its most challenging, semi-randomized moments.
